On 14th of September, 2024, Kolkata Haematology Education & Research Initiative (KHERI), was invited by Bally Sujan Bandhu Club for a cultural performance, on the occasion of Thalassemia awareness at Bally Rabindra Bhavan.
In the following event KHERI staged two very comprehensive and unique performances. The program commenced at around 6:45 pm, with felicitation of the dignitaries including Prof. (Dr.) Utpal Chaudhuri Sir (Past-President, KHERI). Following an inaugural session by the hosts, the members of KHERI were invited on the dais. A brief introduction about KHERI was provided by Smt. Sushmita Nath and Dr. Bijurica Chakraborty. Subsequent to the introduction, the podium was open for Senior KHERIan Smt. Ishita Majumdar and Smt. Sushmita Nath to initiate the first program by the warriors of KHERI.
A Dance Collage was thus staged combining scripted recitations and songs, uniquely describing the journey of the Haematologically Challenged Warriors, the obstacles faced by them and how KHERI comes up with an extended helping hand to fill their lives with colors enacted through dance. The entire dance collage was choreographed by Smt. Sorupa Bhattacharjee. The program concluded with a famous horror comedy drama of Shri Rajshekhar Basu (Porshuram) named ‘Vushondir Matth’, performed by a bunch of KHERIans and choreographed by Mr. Soumen Halder. All the warriors were handed over with a token of appreciation each by the hosts on stage and felicitated. Prof. (Dr.) Utpal Chowdhuri Sir was invited to the podium to share few words to the audience to close KHERI’s performance. Amongst other senior members present were Dr. Maitreyee Chaudhuri, Mr. Arabinda Banerjee. The coordinator of KHERI Soma di was an active member present along with Romit and family members of the performers. The program received a wide round of applause.
